About
Madison County Nursing Home is proud to offer the highest quality patient care, delivered in the most effective and efficient manner, by caring and personable professionals. We were established by the County of Madison and are a nonprofit facility. Being a county owned facility in a small town, we promote a family atmosphere.
We have been serving the residents of Madison County since 1967, when we were established as a 60-bed long term care facility for the aging population of farm and business families who had settled here. The original building was on Highway 51 in Canton, Mississippi.
As demand for our services increased, a state of the art complex was completed in 2000 and conveniently located on Highway 16 in Canton. The facility was designed with additional rooms for future growth and includes a healthplex fitness center complete with physical trainers, a swimming pool, hot tub and weight room. As a benefit to the community, memberships are sold to the general public to promote physical fitness. Physical and occupational therapy are also offered to the community, as well as our residents.
In September 2002, in order to continue meeting the needs of our changing population, we opened a 20-bed Alzheimer’s / Dementia Unit. The Alzheimer’s / Dementia Unit is a secure unit. We offer special activities and have caregivers trained in memory care. Our current license, as approved by the Mississippi State Department of Health, is for 95 nursing home beds of which 20 are for a specialized Alzheimer’s / Dementia Unit.
We are now approaching 50 years of service to Madison County, and our services have also grown to include skilled nursing care, rehabilitation therapies, memory care, and fitness training for our residents and our community. The leaders of Madison County opened Madison County Nursing Home as a nonprofit facility to meet the needs of the citizens of Madison County, and as we have grown, we have adapted to continue to meet those needs.
